Just above Hochgurgl looking south towards Obergurgl and Italy. A spectacular location but not a great riding road. I prefer this location when it’s covered in snow.
Top right & left is the Möhne Dam. A single, discrete brass plaque commemorates the events of 16 & 17 May 1943 by RAF 617 Squadron.
Continuing the WWII theme are two shots of Colditz, the town and the infamous castle.
The road up to the Großglockener is as magnificent as the views when you get to the top. Epic views no photograph can do justice to.
Meersburg on Bodensee (Lake Constance)
The Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme. It is visible for several kilometres in every direction and is the work of the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. The sixteen pillars are engraved with the names of 73,367 British and Commonwealth soldiers who fell during the Battle of the Somme between July and November 1916 and who have no known grave.
