October 2023

This is a series of articles about a 16,000-mile, 5-month road trip I will make in 2024. It will encompass some of the best and least well-known destinations in the USA and bordering Canada.

The articles are roughly in reverse chronological order ‘starting’ with the impetus for doing this right now followed by some reflections on why do it all.

For anyone contemplating something similar, I’ve then explained my approach and planning. Eventually, I’ll cover the trip itself, starting in March 2024 and posting as I go.

"The journey is part of the experience - an expression of the seriousness of one's intent. One doesn’t take the A train to Mecca..."

PS: The way this website works is the most recent posts are at the top. However, it also means that the ones you might want to read first - about the background and the planning - will end up well ‘below the fold’, at the very end of the page.

So, if you go to the end of the page and work back, you will be reading them in the intended order. I hope that makes sense…
